Spring 2019: Men’s Shoe Guide

spring shoe guide for men

As we head into spring, you’ll require a slight change in your footwear wardrobe to better suit the weather. It starts making less sense to put on those suede Chelsea boots, and more sense to wear other styles.

Anatomic & Co has put together a spring shoe guide for men, looking at some of the favourite styles for the 2019 season.

Men’s Trainers

mens spring 2019 shoes

Every man should own a pair of good, smart casual trainers. Trainers are an all-year-round style and have the added benefit of being a timeless menswear staple. In spring 2019, you can look at pairing your leather trainers with a t-shirt and tailored jeans. Now days, trainers are also acceptable with a suit – just make sure you go with a more minimalist trainer and that your trousers are tailored to sit just above your ankle.

Our trainer style for spring 2019: Classico Touch Anil or Havana

Men’s Slip On Shoes

mens spring 2019 shoes

Combining laid-back comfort without sacrificing any style, men’s slip on shoes will see you through the spring and summer months. Slip on shoes or loafers for men range from simple and classy to definitive statement pieces. You can wear your loafers with suits for formal settings or with rolled up jeans for a more casual look. They even work great with short trousers and an Oxford shirt.

Our loafer style for spring 2019: Tavares Floater Pinhao

mens spring 2019 shoes

Men’s Chukka Boots

mens spring 2019 shoes

If you’re not looking forward to putting away the boots, there’s good news for you. Chukka boots are the go-to boot for when the weather starts to get warmer – they were originally created for the British Army fighting in hot climates. These men’s boots will carry you through spring and summer, and are available in different colours and materials. If you are after a more versatile style, opt for brown or sand shades, but don’t be afraid to go for a more dynamic colour.

Our Chukka boot style for spring 2019: Colorado Navy, Pinhao or Brown

Men’s Brogues

mens spring 2019 shoes

No matter the time of year, you’ll always need a pair of smart dress shoes to fall back on – and we recommend the stylish brogue. Brogues are often worn with a suit, giving the wearer a polished, smart look. Black brogues are seen as an acceptable business shoe, while brown tones provide a more relaxed look and two tone coloured leathers an edgy alternative. For spring 2019, we suggest opting for a brogue that works with both smart and casual outfits to create a clean, sophisticated finish.

Our brogue style for spring 2019: The Tucano (available in a variety of styles)

mens spring 2019 shoes

On that note:

While putting away our winter boots for the next few months is not fun, spring opens up the option for you to wear different styles. Trainers and loafers bring back that casual look we miss during the winter, while chukka boots and brogues rejuvenate style for the outdoor season. In spring 2019, try experimenting with something new.

New Colours

The collection focuses on true Brazilian style – embracing colour! So while the weather may be getting dull, Anatomic’s Autumn Winter collection is not all black and brown. New Outsole

Anatomic has created a brand new outsole – Savoy, which combines a supremely comfortable experience for both leisure and high performance walkers. It’s also destined to become a much sought after style in the footwear world – take a look at the styles Jonas and Heitor.

Shoe Innovation

Innovation is a key focus for Anatomic & Co and this season was no different. The new Francisco walking boot (above) has been created on Anatomic’s award winning 360 Air outsole which provides the wearer with supreme comfort through its air cylinder technology. So whether you’re on an outdoor hike or just walking to the pub, you will be in good company. The boot is also part of the wide-fitting collection, which is growing in popularity each season.

We’re really excited about this season’s new collection and we’re sure you will be too! Stay tuned for more updates on the new collection.

5 of our favourite brogues in 2018

A shoe that can boost your look with some classic charm, the brogue is a timeless item of men’s fashion. Not only is this shoe style smart and fashionable, but it also adds some interest and excitement to your outfit thanks to their unique perforations.

The characteristic row of holes and perforations create a shoe that can be worn for both smart and casual outings. That being said, you don’t want to over complicate your outfit when styling brogues. Let the iconic broguing pattern that runs on the edges of the shoe do the talking.

So lets jump into it! Here are our top 5 brogues so far this year…

1. Fernando Smooth Black

The first shoe on our list is the classy Fernando men’s leather brogue. Featuring soft leather uppers and genuine leather soles, these brogues don’t just look the part, but feel just as good too. They are also lightweight and flexible too! Black is always the most formal option when it comes to brogues, but this doesn’t mean you can’t add a spin to it by wearing a patterned shirt or interesting tie.

2. Tucano Suede Truffle

Next up is the highly popular and comfortable Tucano – and we’re going with Suede Truffle. What really sets this brogue apart is its distinctive stitching (waxed thread for waterproofing) and contrasting England Rubber Gel sole. The Tucano suede brogues can also be worn with pretty much anything, which is why it’s in our top 5.

3. Pilar Smooth Burgundy Black

If you’re looking for for a brogue full of confidence and charm, this is it! The Pilar brogue in smooth burgundy and black is characterised by “closed lacing”, a distinctive two-toned leather finish and contrasting hand-stitched welt. And it’s not just a beauty on the outside. Inside, soft natural leathers and cushioned sheepskin lining keep your feet cushioned all day long.

4. Manaus Black

The Manaus Black brogue works for times when you need to look sharp. Add a pair of black tailored trousers and you’ll achieve ultimate sophistication. This smart-casual lace up also features padded ankle supports and a soft sheepskin lining, providing style and comfort in equal measure.

5. Charles Smooth Bronze

And last, but certainly not least, we have gone with the Charles men’s leather brogue in bronze. This brogue will help you polish off loads of your looks. Pair these with formal trousers, dark denim, chinos, blazers and shirts – the list goes on. Oh, and just like our other selections they’re big on comfort.
Brogues add character to every gentleman’s shoe rack – so make sure you’re laced up and ready to go!

Celebrating National Love Your Pet Day

With all the hype around Valentine’s Day, you might have forgotten or not known about another holiday you should be celebrating if you’re a pet owner.

In case you didn’t know, February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day. The aim of this holiday is to encourage pet owners to spend some time with their furry family members and show them the love and affection they deserve.

Whether you own a cat, dog, bird or bunny, this is the day to show them how much they mean to you.

While your cat might prefer a special treat and a cuddle, dogs might also appreciate an outing with you.

So if you’re wondering what you can do for your pet on this day, here are a few suggestions…

Play games in the park

Shoes worn above: Classico Smooth Havana

The UK is home to some of the best outdoor parks in the world, which is a great place for your canine friend to get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air.

You can play Frisbee, fetch or just let your dog play with some new friends. Remember to make sure that the park is dog friendly, and always keep a watchful eye when your furry friend is off the leash.

Go for a long stroll

Shoes worn above: Delta Vintage Rust

While you should regularly be taking your four-legged-friend for walks, maybe you can try a new route on this day.

If you live near the seaside, you and your dog can enjoy a stroll along the beach, or perhaps you’re in the countryside where you’re spoilt with magnificent outdoor trails.

Wherever you choose to go for a walk, your dog will be happy to have you by his/ her side.

Set up a photoshoot

Shoes worn above: Sa0 Paulo Touch Bronze Brushed

A photoshoot can be a great way to capture wonderful memories while also giving pet owners something to take home and cherish forever.

Let’s face it, as pet owners, we’re all constantly taking photos of our cats, dogs and other pets anyway – but try have some fun dressing up your pet with props and snapping some photos.

While it might be a little harder for cat owners to get their feline family members to participate, remember to make the experience an enjoyable one for your pet.

Grab a treat

Shoes worn above: Fernando Smooth Bronze

You can head out with your dog and enjoy a treat at a dog friendly restaurant or an outdoor setting.

While this may be a special occasion, always remember to make sure the treats you’re sharing with your dog are not harmful to their health, as some human foods can be toxic for dogs.

With this in mind, you and your dog can enjoy a treat out of your home.

Meet Monty

In case you didn’t know, Monty is the inspiration behind the Anatomic & Co logo.

As the trusted mascot, Monty has been a valued member of the team for years now – he’s even bilingual.

Whether he’s spreading joy through the office or helping out at the warehouse, Monty has become integral to the company.

Hardly a day goes by when he’s not surrounded by boots, brogues and loafers – he knows good taste.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Spring… if we’ve got anything to do with it that is. Go behind the scenes at our SS17 shoot ??

If you’re a film buff, you’ll know that phrases like “what’s the worst that can happen?” inevitably leads to the worst happening, right? And so with that in mind, what’s the worst that can happen when you’re shooting a spring/summer men’s footwear collection… in the middle of January… in the middle of London… at a film directors house? Well, not a lot actually! But that’s what happens when you assemble an all-star cast like we did.

Here’s the BEST of what happened when we shot the Anatomic mens collection for spring/summer 17.

Naturally, a spring/summer collection needs to look like a spring/summer setting. So at 7am as we stepped off the tube outside our (amazing) shoot location to find it was still dark, it’s fair to say that some of us were a little apprehensive… which distracted us, at least, from the freezing cold temperature.

We’d chosen a house location that not only offered a great number of opportunities as a setting but also because of its huge floor to ceiling windows that allowed us to make good use of the limited light we had that day.

Talking of which, when the sun did finally make an appearance (around 8:30am), we were good to go with the first set-up, featuring Murilo, our black lace up dress shoe from the Prime collection.

Although it was still early in the day, you could (we did) say we were on a roll! By the time it was 9:30am we were on to the next set-up… even Nic, our Creative Director, had time for a quick selfie and to update his Snapchat.

Next up was Bilac in Off White (pictured above on the amazingly talented Jamie Roche).

Since the launch of our men’s leather trainer collection last year, we’ve had some great feedback from many of you, while we’ve also noticed the continued overwhelming demand for a smart-casual trainer for all occasions. And with that, we’ve introduced three new styles to the range this spring/summer; Bilac, available in Bronze as well as Off-White, Bariri in Navy and Havana and our cross-woven Bastos in Cognac and Castanho.

We’re ahead of schedule at the half-way stage; we break for lunch, but not before asking ourselves “what would David Bowie think of the new spring/summer collection?” It’s a conclusive thumbs up from everyone.

Going into the afternoon session, we had only a couple hours of good light ahead of us. With that in mind, the multi-talented Anna Sara, our E-Commerce Manager/Interior Designer for the day (as you’ll see below) was always on hand to keep a watchful eye on the time, as well as working closely alongside Paul, our wonderful photographer, to ensure we’re getting the right shots under the testing conditions.

But after a very long, tiring day (who says shoots are glamorous?), we had all the shots we needed and it was time to pack up and celebrate with a drink and VIP entry to the on-location Gresham Ballroom… what’s the worst that could happen, ah?

Be the very first to explore the new spring/summer collection, now available on our website, here.
